How Is The Water Temperature?
One of the first things you’ll want to check before heading to the pool is the water temperature. Find out what bathing suit you need to bring and whether or not you should expect a dip in the summer or winter. Also, make sure you know what other people’s opinions are on the topic (e.g., Is it cold enough for you? Is it too hot? What about the middle ground?)
As someone who lives in New York City, I always want to know if the water is going to be too hot or cold for me, especially once the temperature is below 75 degrees Fahrenheit. While some may prefer a cool pool, especially in the summer, I find that a comfortable temperature range is between 75 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything above that and I start to feel cold.
Is It Open Daily?
Most city pools are open Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM and on weekends from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. Holtsville’s pool is open daily from 9:00AM to 9:00PM, summer and winter. The pool is still closed on Saturdays and Sundays, even though it is a holiday, because there isn’t anyone available to clean it.
One of the main reasons why the pool stays open so late is due to people getting in trouble with the law. Specifically, people who are drinking and driving often find themselves in court after hours, trying to explain why they were in a pool at 2:00AM. As a result, the courts have made a designated pool hours that are a little less stringent. What this means is that the law enforcement can actually do their job while also making sure you don’t get too drunk to care for yourself. This is why I always suggest visiting the city parks earlier in the day. The later the hours, the more intoxicated people you’ll likely see lounging about.
What Sports Are Available?
One of the main reasons why I like the pool at Holtsville is because there are so many opportunities for me to get in shape and have some fun. Not only does the pool offer a place for people to swim and exercise, but it also has a sand volleyball court and a basketball pitch. If you’re looking for a place to work out, the pool is the best option for you.
On top of that, since it is open all day, you’re bound to see people of all ages and abilities participating in various water sports. From toddlers looking for a splash to adults looking for a good workout, this is the perfect place for everybody.
Is There A Pool Lifeguard On Duty?
While many pools have lifeguards on duty, the hours can be quite frustrating. Especially if you’re a parent who is trying to get some peace and quiet, it can be difficult to find out the times when the guard will be on duty and when they will be off. This is why I suggest finding out what times the pool closes and plan your day accordingly. It is always better to know what times the guards are on and off so that you can plan your day accordingly. This can help ensure the safety of your kids while also giving you an opportunity to get some peace and quiet.
Is It Worth Going There?
All things considered, I think the pool at Holtsville is worth going to. Not only is it open all day, every day, it also offers a number of pools for everyone to enjoy. Families with kids can have fun in the water while also getting some exercise and fresh air. Adults can workout and swim while also being near New York City. People who are trying to get some peace and quiet will find it easy to do so, since it is closed to the public between the hours of 6:00PM and 9:00PM. This is why I think the pool at Holtsville is the perfect option for everybody.
Is the pool at Holtsville open yet?
While it is a bit early to tell if the pool is going to be open this year, due to the pandemic, I think it is safe to assume that it will be ready to go by the end of August. The last thing we want is for people to be deprived of the opportunity to take a nice, cool dip during those hot summer days. Hoping to make the most out of those last long, hot days of summer? Planning to take a vacation during the peak season? Visit Holtsville during those last few weeks of August.
